WELCOME TO BOYS STATE LIVE 2011!

Monday Morning Update

Boys State is starting to look and feel like a state now. This morning, the 32 different city councils had their first meetings, and the clerks are writing up the minutes of that meeting. The slates will be set for the county elections and campaigning is in full force. The Boys State House of Representatives (one citizen from each city) had its initial meeting. Congratulations to Rishi Chatterji from Barrington for being elected Speaker of the House and to Wade Steinki from Sterling for being elected Clerk of the House. The slide show includes pictures from last night's memorial service.

So far, my experience at Boy’s State has been really fun. Within the first couple of days, I have learned what people want to hear when you are running for a public office. I think that this camp is very beneficial to everyone, because it helps people to better themselves in social experiences. People here accept who you are and, within the first day, you gain some new friends. At this point, I would recommend Boy’s State to anyone wanting to better themselves as a leader, or even as a person.
