Monday Afternoon Update

| If you haven't been convinced that Boys State is a busy place, the following have been posted (see above links to view): Monday sports results (reminder, no soccer this year), the Monday edition of the Boys State-ment, the city election results, and the county election results. That's a typical day at Boys State. This afternoon, the boys State Police had their first meeting, the first round of inter-county sports competition took place, and the Boys State-ment began work on the Tuesday edition. Not to be forgotten, county election campaigning continued until the election at 5:00 pm. Now the election focus turns up a notch...and campaign teams are being formed, planns are being made, and nominating petitions for state office are distributed tomorrow. |
Things this week have been very enjoyable. The campus and dorms are very well kept. So far this week, we have done city elections and started the county elections. The staff here is very encouraging and helpful, but still make you do all the work; which is nice. I am also a member of the Boys State Band. It is fun, but could use more citizens since there are only about twelve total. The one thing that could be improved is that the staff should intervene with the nominations when boys are only nominated to be funny or as a joke. Besides that little problem, this is one of the best experiences of my high school career. I am looking forward to the rest of the week and the lifetime of memories to come. |
