| WELCOME TO BOYS STATE 2010 LIVE! | |
|
Tuesday Afternoon Update |
It's another full afternoon of activities for Boys State citizens. The nominating petition deadline has passed, and all running for a state office will attend a compulsory meeting. The Public Affairs teams from each county will begin preparing their presentations. Day 2 of inter-county sports competition takes place (weather permitting), as well as meetings for the State Police, House of Representatives, and State Senate. For select citizens, Leadership 101, a three day seminar/class offered by Eastern Illinois University, begins today. Congratulations to the following leaders of 2010 Illinois Boys State: Click here to see EIU's coverage of Governor Quinn's visit. |
So far, this week of boys state has been incredible. It truly is a one of kind experience. The people are great, the opportunities are endless, and there's something to do for everyone. I have participated heavily in the political side of Boys State as I was elected Senator and am currently in the process of running for Governor. On Monday, I was actually fortunate enough to meet the Governor of Illinois. Many of my friends, on the other hand, opt to spend much of their time playing football. Whether you want to play a sport or run for the legislature, I'd recommend Boys State to anyone. You're sure to fit right in. |
