Morning
It seems like the home stretch is already starting to kick in and yet we just arrived. The election is just an hour away and you could see the candidates campaigning all though breakfast to get the last votes. Who will get the vote? Who will carry the party? Who will stand on stage tonight and give their final campaign speech? Those results are just hours away.
At the same time citizens are also on their way to the second day of classes. When they return from class the polls will open. This afternoon brings the oration contest preliminaries and public affairs hearings.
Afternoon
Today's edition of the Boys State-ment has been posted. This afternoon young men from around the camp will compete in the preliminary round of the Oration competition. The finalists from today's contest will move on to the finals tomorrow. the winner will take home a $1,000 scholarship.
From 2:30pm to 4:30pm today public hearings will be held in which lobbyists for each county will present to select members of Congress recommendations on Immigration reform. Formally known as the Public Affairs competition this exciting activity involves power point presentations and speeches. The winning team will be announced at tonight's assembly.
Evening
The candidates have spoken and now the citizens have the night to think over their options. As we approach our last election at Boys State this is the big one as they say. At this evenings assembly each parties candidates had the chance to give a speech to the entire camp citizenship as to why they should be elected. Speeches ranged from the self biography to the pop culture reference. At the end of the speeches a mini debate was held between the two Governor candidates, moderated by President Tom Johnson.
