The Boys State Band plays an integral role in the Illinois Boys State program. The band practices daily under the direction of professional music educators. Participants bring their own instruments; however, Eastern and Boys State provide sousaphones, bass drums, and field snares. The band plays a concert each evening and also plays an impressive flag lowering ceremony each afternoon. Band members may participate in athletics and/or politics as they choose.
