Planned supervised recreation is an important part of the Boys State experience.  Organized intramural athletic competition is held between counties in basketball, soccer, softball, flag football, and volleyball during the afternoons. In addition, a variety of facilities are available at Eastern Illinois University, including table tennis, chess, checkers, swimming, tennis, track wrestling, and the use of EIU's renowned fitness center

-All indoor activities take place in the Student Recreation Center (SRC) and the Lantz Building.
-All outdoor activities take place on the fields south of Lantz.
-Enter the Lantz Building from the pond side at ground level and continue to the north through the hallway to the SRC.
-The Fitness Center and Weight Room are in the SRC.
-Basketball, Volleyball, and Table Tennis are all played in the SRC.
-Tennis will be played on the Lantz courts south of the fieldhouse or in the fieldhouse in case of rain.
-Enter the Lantz pool from the locker room on ground floor
-Post activity shower should be taken in the residence halls since no towels are provided at Lantz.

SPORTS EQUIPMENT ISSUE ROOM HOURS

The equipment issue room is located in the Lantz Building on the ground level as you enter from the south side near the campus pond. The locker room is next to the equipment room.

RECREATIONAL SWIMMING HOURS- LANTZ SWIMMING POOL

Saturday through Thursday 2:30 - 4:30 pm
-Swim trunks are required.
-No cutoffs
-No shoes are allowed in the pool area
-Please no open toed shoes (sandals) in the rec center

SINGLES TOURNAMENTS

Singles competition in table tennis and tennis will be held. Individuals on a team roster are not eligible to play in singles tourneys. Eligible players may only play in one tourney. Enter all tourney “On-The-Spot” at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Campus Rec Sports Office in the Lobby of the SRC. Deadline is 2:30pm for bracket preparation and matches will begin promptly at 2:45pm.

FITNESS CENTER AND FREE-WEIGHT AREA

A supervisor will be on site to provide instruction on use of aerobic equipment (Precor, Lifecycle, Liferower, Recumbent Bike, and True Treadmill) and limited workout suggestions or other assistance as requested.
