When I first got to Boys State, I didn't know anyone or anything. I was the only one from my home town to come here, and I had absolutely no clue what to expect. My time at Boys State has been great. The band is exciting, and the elections are challenging. All in all it has gone incredibly well. If I could do it all again, I would.

Boys State Band

The Boys State Band plays an important role in the program.  The band practices daily under the direction of professional music educators.  Participants bring their own instruments; however, Eastern and Boys State provide sousaphones, bass drums, and field snares.  The band plays a concert each evening (one of which is often attended by the Governor of Illinois) and also plays an impressive flag lowering ceremony each afternoon.  Band members may participate in athletics and/or politics as they choose.
