Transportation arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the sponsor. Many local Legion posts in Illinois provide bus transportation for a fee. Reservations must be made ahead of time. Some school districts also provide transportation. It is suggested that you check these two possibilities at first.

Registration opens at 1:00 pm on Saturday, and the program ends at approximately 11:30 am on Friday. Maps and directions to EIU will be provided on the opening page of this website the week before the session is to begin.

The program officially begins at 5:00 pm on Saturday, so students should arrive in time to unpack and settle in before initial orientation meetings. The first meal is at 6:00 pm on Saturday.

Students are permitted to drive themselves to and from Boys State; however, due to insurance issues, car keys must be surrendered upon arrival to the Boys State staff. Parking is provided at no charge by EIU. Students will receive their keys back on Friday morning. Students may NOT drive their cars during the Boys State session.
